Project Community Strengthening

This project is in the unique position of being able to reach out to many artistic communities in BC, flamenco and non-flamenco alike. It speaks to traditionalists and innovators and has a high entertainment value for its patrons. Not only does this project have staying power, it generates its own momentum. Because the project will showcase a wide variety of artistic genres, the audience is exposed to flamenco in a rich array of manifestations, through the voices of some of Vancouver’s most talented musicians, dancers, and choreographers.

Past performances and collaborations have been in conduction with:

Mashregh (East) is a musical group combining the haunting and passionate flamenco music with the spiritual lyrics of Persian poetry. With Farnaz Ohadi as the singer and the musical director at the helm, Mashregh strives to create meditative melodies that transcend Earthly boundaries and transport the soul to the East and beyond.
